This series is a response to the landscape of the north Finistère coast , where the weather beaten and sea eroded coast exposes the bare rock and where the extreme tides reveal vast expanses of white sandy space. Flotsam of all kind, human and vegetal adds punctuation marks to the flat shoreline, the seaweed like calligraphic gestures, writing a different story at the return of the next tide. The sea itself is an ever changing palette of blues, greens and greys, at times subtly pearlescent against the inky black of the wrack and the grittiness of the granite, at other times achingly beautiful shallows of turquoise reach out of the sapphire, viridian and bronze depths. The shoreline is the liminal space where the soul is laid bare and where time becomes a meditation.
